GHG or Avian X ???

I'm looking to purchase another dozen fullbodies for next season and I was wondering if I should go ahead and purchase my usual GHG or wait for the Avian-X. Just curious if anyone on here has seen the Avian-X goose decoys (field tested), would like to hear some opinions on them. An estimated price point would be nice also.

Sorry, can't compare the two. How do you feel about your GHG (standard)decoys are holding up.... I have the Avery Bulls and like em,but my feeders are a different brand. I too am thinking of adding more to my spread, the GHG are certainly an option.

I have a sneakin suspicion that the Zink decoys won't even be available for next season. They may be "released" during next season but will be back ordered immediately or very few people will get their hands on em. I could be wrong. Season opens in 5 months and barely anyone has even seen what the zink goose decoys are going to look like. No talk of price either. I'm not holding my breathe. If anyone has pics, post em

I love all my GHG decoys. I run the pro-grades because I'm not crazy about the ffd's. A friend of mine bought a dozen of the FFD's and where and how we hunt they kinda sucked having to baby them and dry them out and gently brush the mud off. We are not fair weather only goose hunters and don't have time for a decoy that can't take a little mud and just be scrubbed off. Don't get me wrong though the FFD's do look really nice though and will bring in the geese. I have not had any issues with paint on my pro-grades at all, but I bag all my decoys. My only complaint about my GHG is the stands could be widened about 4 inches more, because they will blow over if the wind picks up or they are not on perfect flat ground and in a corn field that can be hard sometimes. We use the stakes when we can but switch to the stands as soon as the ground starts to freeze.

There's no question that Avian X will be a better quality and better looking decoy. However, judging from what I've seen from their turkey decoys, the Avian X are going to be an upper level decoy to geared toward the DSD buyer. They won't be cheap. However, if you are only adding a dozen, I would most certainly wait and sock away a little extra money. You'll be much happier in the end. Spend the extra money and cry once. I'm not liking the new look GHG's at all. You can see them on their facebook page. I'm tempted to get some of the cacklers, though, if the price is right. I'll be more than tempted to pick up some Avian X if I can get my hands on them. Hopefully they won't be too outrageous in price. I have their turkey decoy and it is pretty bad azz, but no way could I afford to get even a dozen at $80 (if the geese are going to be priced like the turkeys).

All I know is they're coming out this July and they're probably gonna be cheap!
thats about what i know and there gonna look good
Just out of curiousity, how do you know what they are gonna look like? Price(I've heard more on the high end on price)? and release date? I can't find any pics or info on em on any of the chat sites. All I hear/read is about their turkey deeks and people saying the turkey deeks are great but that doesnt mean the goose deeks will be too. Comparing apples to oranges. i'm just curious. Buying some new deeks for this season, throwing alot of idea's around...brand wise.

My thoughts exactly Steve. Seems like the rumor mill is running at about warp speed on these deeks. There is absolutely ZERO info on them...anywhere. Strikes me as a bit odd how so many guys have an opinion on a decoy that doesn't even really exist as far as outside of R&D is concerned. I called Zink...wouldnt /couldn't give me one little, bitty, tiny shred of info on them. What's that tell you? So much congecture for a decoy no one has even seen.

I have a feeling they will release more info and pictures of the decoys when Band Hunters 3 is released. It just makes sense if they were field testing these decoys during the 2010-2011 season while they were filming the dvd. Everything was released on the Avian-X LCD turkeys when Turkey Time 3 came out. Let me be clear that, that is just my opinion I didn't read that anywhere or make it up like some of these opinions on price and looks that I have read on this forum and others.

Makes total sense. The next portion of this is not directed at you huntguy, just using your post as refference.
Thing is, I can't believe no pics have been leaked! Especially if they're in the field test stage. Its not like they're a new missle or radar being tested for the military...which the media would most certainly have leaked by now! All the speculation and the "I know a guy who, knows a guy, who saw Elvis shooting geese over them in a crop circle" stuff is getting a bit rediculous though. No one has a clue what they're really gonna be like, so why say you know a thing about them? It won't make you any more important of prestegeous on here by doing so. The folks that DO have an inside sure aren't talking about em and I'm pretty sure they would be none too happy with Joe Pro Staffer saying word one regarding features or details or prices. Seems like you could definetly be risking that prostaffer title and perks if Zink got wind of one of their staffers talking about a decoy that hasn't even completed R&D yet. Btw, I like the "disclaimer" at the end of your post huntguy! easy to see you aren't one of the masses willing to speculate.

i dont see how they are going to get in trouble as long as they dont show pics or anything like that. And there were pro staffers on public sites talking about them
Where on any forum has a staffer said one SPECIFIC thing about these deeks? Not on Avery, DHC, Nodak, and especially here. Rumor mill every time. Sorry dude, but I gott call BS on this one. If you know FACTS about them, why not just tell us? Believe me we'd love to here them!! By saying you heard it from a guy tells me one thing...you know as much about those deeks as me and all the other non Zink pro staffers on here...absolutley nuthin.

don't know any numbers but heard there gonna be a good price probably around what GHGs are
GHG hot buy prices? Hunter series price? Prograde price's? FFd price's? Like mentioned i think there is ALOT of speculation going around not facts. We'll just have to wait and find out I guess.

I know that guy also, and I heard Elvis baited the crop circle with corn two days prior. :rolling: :rolling: :rolling:
My buddy told me he shot 3 over the limit too

Awhile ago on avery i will try to find it
Don't bother. I'm on Avery as we speak. Not one post saying anything other than speculation about the goose deek. (Did a search for all posts containing the words Avian X). Started out as discussion about the trailer and it got waaaaay off topic and went to comparing DSD to Zink decoys...turkey decoys that is. Not word one about the goosie decoy. Sorry fella.

I do know this...if they are half as detailed as the turkey decoy and as tough as a BF then they won't be cheap! That being said, I will definetly be adding some to my spread if they meet even a portion of the hype were all giving them on the chat boards. I can always use more decoys! Right Steve? :rolling:

I really don't think it's comparing apples to oranges. The realism and price range of DSD's geese went hand in hand with the realism and price of the turkeys. I'm guessing it's the same here in reverse order. I'm thinking they'll be ultra-detailed but fairly expensive. At $80, the turkeys are right in the middle of DSD's price and "production" quality turkeys like Carry Lite, Flambeau, etc. I'll bet the geese will be in the middle also, somewhere between DSD's and "production grade" dekes like GHG's, FA, etc. I was told that's the market they were aiming for anyway: The guys who want high end decoys, but can't or won't quite pull the trigger on DSD's.

.

My thoughts exactly. If they're as good as all the hype and speculation then I would not be remiss in thinking the price point to be around what Dakotas are currently priced at? Again, that being said, its gonna still put them out of range for a lot of guys. Would be nice to be able to put out less decoys for the trade up on realizm though huh?
