currently i am blowing a winglock delrin. its a great call, but i'm looking for another call to complement it. i dont have a lot of $ to spend right now. so right now i'm thinking of a poly super mag, gk giant slayer, heartland x-out or flatliner, or a foiles meat grinder. which would you choose? any insight would help.

i would choose any of them except the foiles. i like the super mag, but im also partial to grounds calls, and that is why i hate foiles

I admittedly have a bias for Heartland Calls, and used thier new Stage Fright call exclusively to limit out this morning. I would get the Flatliner as it will give you a more subtle sound when needed. The X-out having a sharper high note and break.

I'd have take the opposite view as KpHonknImReloadn, I love Foiles calls and I don't like Grounds calls. I can't speak for the poly super mags, but the half breed is so high pitched it sounds like a snow goose. I like deep, mellow tones for canadas. I've never blown the meat grinder so I can't vouch for it, but the Straight Meat Honker is the best call out there. If you are wanting a good, inexpensive short reed pick yourself up a Buck Gardner Canada Hammer II. Costs about $25 and sounds comparable to a high end acrylic out of the box.

but i also have hunted with many of the others on this list, and know Tim Grounds, so that is why we all are a little bitter on the Foiles Migrators subject,
and on the half breed, that is what i personally use as a snow goose call

I'm also using the Winglock derin....your right, it is a great call, but I'll be adding a Heartland pip-squeeck to completely offset the Winglock.I was also considering the slayer or flatliner, but after some disscussion with more experienced callers, I realized these 2 calls sound to much like the delrin to make a big difference.I wouldn't rule out the X-out though, it also compliments the Winglock quite well.

This is EASY!! You can never go wrong w/ a FOILES!! It's by far the best call on the market today and you won't find customer service that is better anywhere on the planet. If you buy Grounds...you don't know if he put it together..that's even if he did it himself. If you don't want a piece of garbage...get a FOILES! And yes...the meat grinder would be a great starter call!!

On another note, I've since recieved the pip-squeak and sold it.....waaaay to high pitched for my liking. I've since added a supermag[birdseye maple],a GK Slayer[tuned higher than normal] and a custom call.All of these calls have been serving me very well :beer:

i think foiles makes a great call. and have had zero problems with jeffs calls. as for zink i have some of his calls and i think there "ok" but i have to say i realy like the little man but the duck call i have i used it for a season and it sounds like s**t and i emailed him to see about re-tuning it and its a 5 bucks to retune a call thats not even a season old and the 10 bucks to ship it.

THE THING THAT TURNED ME OFF FROM FOILES IS WHEN I WENT MY LOCAL CABELAS THEY HAD A FEW MEATGRINDERS HANGING ON THE SHELF TWO OF THE THREE CALLS THAT WERE THERE THE RING HAD COME OFF OF THE CALL. NOW I AM NOT SAYING THEY ARE BAD CALLS BUT IF THEY ARE COMING APART FROM THE GET GO I WOULD TEND TO SHY AWAY FROM THAT. I PERSONALY HAVE A CUSTOM BUILT CALL.

u have to try a few calls and buy the one u are comfortable with, personally i use grounds callls, but i will admit a foiles SMH is probably one of the easier calls to blow on the market even though i am not a big fan of his goose calls. dont feel bad about george calling u a clown, because if u look at his other posts he always jumps on other people, probably because he really has little knowledge of this game and most of what he posts is puked up from videos and magazine articles he reads and watches. all the calls on the market are pretty good the smh calls dont need too much back pressure to sound good so they might be a good call to learn on, good luck

if u are already efficient with a short reed try a SUPERMAG, versitility is unmatched and in my opinion ONE OF the best the market

this was a post to the one migrator posted about " grounds blows "it was taken off the forum because of the content that migrator use. i don't just jump on someones back for no reason ....if you use grounds then it would probably upset you the way this guy jumped on to grounds . stated things that just were not true Migrator posted some things that were just wrong to begin with. until you seen it you would'nt believe it .
i think that the migrator post right here was edited...spaniel 19 i to think the super mag is 1 of the BEST calls on the market.
guys i'm not on here to start **** but if i see someone badmouthing someone who has no ideal of what he is saying then i guess i get a little defensive toward them .agian guys hope you understand did'nt mean to cause any grief...

just rember you guys are buying those high $$$$$ calls i had mine custom made for 1/2 the price and ill put it up against any of grounds calls any day dont forget the small "Mom and Pops"custom builders they can do wonders some thing to keep in mind is that those calls you talk about are production made calls everybody can go to the Cabelas websight and buy one :lol: :beer:
