Just for Fun - mixed the guts

As an experiment in creating different sounds, I switched the guts from my Sean Mann Shorty Express with the guts of my Mick Lacy's Big River Long Flute and found that the shorty actually sounded quite good using the Big River's longer reed.

The tubes are nearly identical in diameter, so everything fit very well. I'm almost tempted to leave the shorty like this.

Anyone else mix and match?

Thats funny, I just replied to a post about call choices.
The .620 dia. short reed guts are interchangable many times, and it allows experiments with the tuning of others parts..
The guts can be mailed in an invelope for about $5..

I'd do that if I didn't already have a growing collection of calls I'm not using to play with...

FWIW the reverse of using the shorty guts in the Big River sounded terrible...like a dying goose with the $hits! :D
Your the man winger. I've been looking for some good pics to reference on tuning calls. Are you a maker? Not that I'm trying to promote your business or anyhing. I don't want to break the rules here. Just interested. If you are and need a tester, I'm at your service..

Yes I make Lews calls. The spam rules are good or we'd get over-run with adds. Seems like a resident army of fans of certain calls combs the chat pages and posts every day, Have you tried these ?
