My question is how many and how to setup deacs. and how mush should i be calling. And does haveing ducks mixed in help with my spread.

As long as they are smaller flocks of geese you might be able to call them in with just 2 dozen decoys. If the geese are real high up then you don't have much of a chance of calling them down. I would also try to use a flag. That would probably help you a lot. When I call geese, I try to do what they are doing until they get real close and then I do the feeding call. If they are not calling at all I will not call that much (just a few honks). Then once they get close I do the feeding call. Duck decoys will not help bring in geese from what I have seen. If there are ducks that fly over, then you could put some duck decoys away from the geese, but make sure they are still in range. Hope this helps and welcome to the forum. :D

from my experience, geese this late in the day are actually done feeding and have keft their feeding fields and are headed back to their night roost (usually a pond or lake large enough to keep them safe from predators while the sleep, I havent had much luck trying to convince these evening geese to land in another field on their way back.......but aw always with geese, you just never know...good luck
i agree with him I have tried hunting canadas at night before and they just don't come down try hunting them in the morning
me and my friend only have 2 doz decoys and we still kill geese all ya have to do is call good and be in the right place at the right time
Thanks for the help guys. One more question i have is i heard that a few crow deacs would help to draw them in. Is this true.
Set them off to the side, around 25-40 yards away, good confidence decoy!!! 8)
try hunting your field in the evening if you are near the full moon cycle. some flocks look for a place to eat at night with the illumination. we have had no luck at all in the am on full moon cycles. geese fly late and hunker down for the night in the fields.
yes, crows are excellent confidence decoys but as he mentioned not in your spread but to the side, they indicate a good food source to the geese I've also seen seagulls and other scavengers used like doves or starlins, and I know it sounds extreme but remember how many times you've seen deer in those goose fields so if you ahve a deer target/decoy sitting around now that the season is over......why not place it near your spread....
I never thought of the deer deak. I noticed that a few nights ago. there were 5 deer eating and within 35 yards, there must have been 50 birds. I can use that to hid behind in the little standing corn that's left... Thanks for the idea..
If you are going to use a deer decoy near your spread I wouldn't recommend using it to cover yourself. Place it off to the side. Even if the deer season is overf in your neck of the woods, a nice deer standing there at first or last light is sometimes too hard for poachers to pass up. Put it off to the side so if temptation proves to strong for someone like that at least you'll be safe.
Good point. The farm field that I hunt is pretty well isolated although I don't think I'll take the chance. It would be a great confidence builder though. I'll be out Thursday AM. I'll keep you all posted if it helps..
I've seen the confidence cow decoy in people's spreads in Nodak....
