Help with avatar!

I am clueless on how that thing works. I have a picture and I want to put in my photo gallery and it says it is more then 6kb. Is there any way to get it under 6kb. I am clueless when it comes to how to put pics on the computer.

If you download this program it will help. It makes it easier to make it under 6kb.
