Getting ready for the season

I got about 5 doz old henriettas, the kind with the cross piece in the body shell. They are getting rather old (25 yrs) and are getting brittle, how can I fix them, I thought painting the inside with white roof sealant like they use on mobile homes. Any thoughts? They are fantastic deaks and I don't want to get rid of them. I do have a ton of others though.
