Flocking is a synthetic material that is glued on the the heads so that the decoy has a deeper black appearance to it--more lifelike. You can do it yourself too. Black Widow is the original and best brand out there IMO. I would be weary of the brands using latex glue.

If you wanted to see a pic--check out Cabelas catlogue--as they had a before and after pic in it.

the flocking kit works great. but you will have to replace it each year because it will wear off. if you are careful you might get two seasons out of them. i have the flocker kit on my two dozen big feet. but my dozen hardcores are painted. i didnt go with the flocker kit on my hardcores because they go in bags and it would wear off to quick. but i stand behind the flocker kit it works great.

You might also look at the Iron Fuzz kits, as they are supposed to last longer. If you want to try the poor man's approach, try Donjer.com. They sell flocking by the pound. You can use Oil Based Rustolium as an adhesive. Many others have used this. Not as good as Iron Fuzz, but it does work.
