Field Hudnall is a class act and his Field Proven line-up are really good calls. The Matrix happens to be one of my favorites in his line. While I don't own one I have ran the Matrix several times. The Matrix is not hard to use if you already have some short reed experience, but I wouldn't recommend it to a beginner caller. Its a good higher pitched call and its been my experience that higher pitched calls are really effective. The only thing I would caution you on is the bell shaped insert. I don't have a problem with bell inserts, but I know others that do. The bell isn't as big as some other calls with that shape, but if you have had problems in the past with that style insert you will feel the same about this one. The best thing to do would be to find a dealer or someone who has one and give it a run prior to purchase. $140 is a lot of money to spend just to take a beating selling it in the classifieds later. I hope this helps you out.

My wife just picked one up and since she goes through goose calls like most women go through shoes I expect that it will be mine in a season or so. I like the call, very easy call for me to run. Low to high pitch and very responsive. I would consider picking one up, but like I said this one will be mine soon enough!!!

I'm going to have to second what huntguy said up there. The matrix is by far my favorite FP call, and I have given thought to buying one just to support Field because he is just such a class act. However, the bell is a little awkward feeling in my hands and I'm not a huge fan of the gut in the call, but it's a snappy fun little call that does have good range and I wouldn't hesitate to throw it on a lanyard if I had to. There are other calls out there that I prefer, but that's why there are 200+ calls on the market. Everyone is a little different and everyone has different likes and dislikes. Give it a run, I think you'll like what you hear.

I have an FP Adrenaline and I understand that it has the same bell end as the Matrix. This is a problem for me as far as hand placement. I just can't seem to make my hands work well on this call. Now, I am not knocking this call at all. In the hands of a more experienced caller, I'm sure this call would be great. It's just something to think about before you get "any" call. I didn't do that before, but I do now.

I'd consider myself just an average caller and I tried one of those as well. It was a harder call for me to use. The bell shape did not fit my hands well but I have heard quite a few people that absolutely love the call. If you are able to try it out 1st, I'd recommend that, but of course that would be the ideal situation for any call.

The exhaust/insert end of the Matrix is much smaller compared to the Adrenaline or Aftershock. The Matrix and Raptor both have the same size exhaust/insert end, and are both runners. If you can handle running a smaller call, the Matrix is awesome. I would say the Raptor falls between the Adrenaline and Matrix and has a combination of both of their attributes.

I've got a Poly Raptor that I modified the barrel on (Made it a 1/4"+ shorter on the band end), that I would not hesitate to put up against any call on the stage or the field. IMHO of course.

I like the Matrix...I don't own one but have run them. IMHO, they're stock tuning is too heavy for my liking. It still is a good call that is very fast (one of the fastest calls on the market IMHO), has good crack, and a surprisingly goosey low end. I would like to buy one and mess with the tuning and really run it and see how it does
