I know that full body decoys are some of the best, but are some brands better than others? I am looking at buying a coulpe dozen Herter's. They are solid plastic/foam and have a 1/2 inch strake holding them up. If anyone has any comments on these decoys I would appreciate it.

I have not used them (herters). But if they are foam only--watch it--they do not last very long based upon their duck decoys that I had years ago.

I use Bigfoots because of their proven durability track record.

I seriously considered getting Hardcores---but they are way too delicate(breakage, paint loss, etc) for my taste based upon my investigation of guys that used them heavily last year.

If you do decide to go with the Herter's, buy they extra feeder heads, a DZ Herter's full bodies (# 499) comes with 6 sentry and 6 feeders. any birds that are checking out your spread will be looking to see what the attitude of the flock on the ground is, content, nervous etc. too many heads up means somethings up.
I personally like to put one sentry to every 24 - 36 decoys the rest are feeders and a few resting.
I took the plunge this year with Big Foot's and I am hooked on thier realism, quality and durabilty, also when the ground froze I didn't have to contend with stakes. My decoy budget is small and I picked up 6 BF this season and what a difference it has made with the pulling power of my existing spread. I place them on the downwind edge of the spread and I have had the birds almost always set into the full bodies I plan on another 12 this spring for next season. Good luck and welcome to the site.

the best decoy there is is hardcore decoys yes they are a little expensive, but try this on for size. we told one of my friends who has been hunting as long as i have to sneak up on this single that was out in our hunting field when we got there. the thing is is it was a hardcore decoy. he went sneaking through the field and got with in about 10 feet of it and turned to us and held up his hands. he couldn't figure out why it wouldn't fly. so he went the rest of the way and grabbed it befor he realized it was one of our decoys. oh yeah the bet was that he had to catch it by hand. so need i say more on how realistic hardcore decoys look.
