When setting up decoys in the usual "U" or "V" shape, where is the best place to place the blind? should it be setup so the blind is on the base of the "U"? or would it be better positioned on the side?

If it was me, I would set-up on the side of the shape. There fore when the geese lite they will be looking at the decoys instead of the blinds. They will be off to the side a little less obvious or "scary". I don't use the "u" or "v" as much as people do. I set up small family groups with one main group. or something like that. That way if the wind shifts or the birds come from different directions you have a lot more places to lite.

I set up on the outsides. I like to have geese all around to conceal me but I set up towards the outside and the "V" or "U" starts to narrow. I am facing downwind as they'll lite into the wind and that's when I like to take 'em (especially if I'm in the goose chair) though some guys like to face the opposite direction.. Towards the outside is fine but make sure you blend in pretty damn well..
We use a giant X with a hole in the middle. We set our blinds right in front of the hole. The geese usually want to land right on us.
