Not really, but it depends on the person. The only time I think it matters is when hunting snow geese and we're forced to take high shots. It can help keep the pattern...but if you're usually shooting between 10-40 yards than it shouldn't matter.

I shoot a SBE with a 26" barell. I like it because it allows for easy swing when shooting and doesnt hang up as much when slinging it through dense cover to get to my hunting spot.
