I just talked to one of our land owners today and he said "I don't know why you boys are hunting in the morning. I see so many more birds in the evening before we milk the cows."

I said "Well, I guess we shall have to pay them afternoon geese a visit."

With the colder temps the geese will feed later in the day and many times several short periods throughout the day. They will return to the roost to keep the water open. This is basically true for Migratory birds, Resi's still feed early, at least in our area. AM hunting pressure will also make PM hunting more effective. Normally we'll hunt ducks in the am and geese in the PM when the COLD gets here. Last year we didn't set up till 10:30 am. Should've seen the look on the guys faces in the adjacant field when we'd pull up around 10 and limit by noon or sooner when they were out there before sunrise freezing their Butts off! lol

We tried that afternoon hunt. Shooting light ends at 5 PM and birds are flying over us watching us cleaning up the shells at 5:15.
