Ya know what 2500? Would trade an 870 for just about anything!! You have a good gun there that won't let you down! I would have loved to have an 870 growing up. I used an old Stevens pump 12 gauge from I thnk Monkey Ward that I had to refinish and put back together myself (took a ton of pride in that). Used that old sucker for every thing from doves to ducks to turkeys. Still have it too and won't ever get rid of it. I think sometimes that is the issue. Too much just given to the younger folks with no expectation to actually earn it. Different generation an all I guess. Nice ride BTW.

YOU HIT THAT ONE SQUARE, KNOCKED IT OUT OF THE PARK..!! growing up I was fortunate enough to have saved my money from a paper route, after an entire year. On my eighteenth birthday I bought a rem wingmaster 870 pump....paid $189 bucks on sale @ the Pay-n-Pak hardware store... the express model was not even available at that time.... used that gun for everything from rabbits to geese... still have it today.. will never part with it... despite having other guns since then.. BPS stalker 10 ga 3.5 ... browning gold lite, 10 ga. 3.5 .... and a ithaca magten .. the youth today never had it so good... with all the technology available... count your blessings.. and appreciate all that has been done for you .. and respect it... there is a long history of waterfowl hunters that have done their time and spent countless days honing their craft and skills.. handing it down to the youth today is what will keep it alive.. don't waste it.... I know this is a youth forum.. but coming from an old-timer.. youths never had it so good...
here they come mike,, cupped and bow'ed up get ready

Haha never been pulled in my truck. I think around here most of the cops got a little redneck in em...heck quite a few hunt with me. They see a truck speeding along with a bunch of cars and think...that big ol thing couldn't have been running as fast as those small cars. Had police pull the car in front of me once and another time the one behind me but never me.

About the 870, I have one of those too. Shoot I have a guns from Smith & Wesson, Ruger, Browning, Remington, Savage, Traditions, and New England Firearms. A good spread for my 9 guns. I'm not fond of the 870 though. Killed plenty of animals with it but they tend to have a lot of mechanical problems I think. Makes a heck of a rabbit gun but when I want something true...Browning - "The BEST there is!" :)

the first time the sherriff was asking but the 2md time I got pulled over (for nouthing) he started talking to me about if i had been bow hunting and knew half my family! lol go figure!

but i havent had a single problem out of my 870 other than a cracked choke but all is well now, and on the Browning subject, I'd love a new Maxus! I've been drooling over one ever scince i shot the carbon version demo at the trap range! :sniper:

and every now and then I am lucky to snag my grandpa's Browning Gold 10ga in shadow grass and its a HOSS!

Had a chance to run a bunch of different shells through my new SX3 and boy I tell you that thing is sweet. It is a great goose killer. Very happy with my purchase.

I like my guns like I like my cars, simple and effective, that's why I drove a Jeep for years. I bought a truck this summer just for hunting and miss my jeep like crazy. Sure all those fancy features are nice, but I dig simplicity. Guess that's why I can't imagine myself ever shooting an autoloader...

Browning BPS 12ga Waterfowl. Just bought it to replace my Mossy 835 this Jan. I'm very excited about the long and happy relationship she and I are establishing

yea but the new 870 are junk. I have shot that thing only around 200 times and the part on the extractor is twisted. Ive lost somewhere from 20-30 waterfowl :x because of wounding and then i couldnt get it unjammed to shoot them again!. Im only 14 but this anoys me so bad when im shooting at geese and then the gun gets racked and i have to take it apart. got it fixed and it did it again! I am now saving up for a new escort. not sure which model but definatly an escort. had great results from them.
