Which ones? Bigfoot B2's, Avian, FA

Postby TRL91 » Wed Aug 14, 2013 3:04 pm

After taking the advice on here I have a couple doz Al's silhouettes. I will be using these when I hunt solo and to fill a spread. The guys I will be hunting with this yr want to use full bodies so everyone is chipping in and we are going to buy some at the Cabelas sale. The main decoys in there that we are interested are the B2's, Avian painted, and FA lessers. The B2's are $149/6, Avians $189/6, and FA lessees $99/6. What's the best bang for our buck. What would you go with out of these options and why? Thanks

The B-2's started out a little rough and had paint issues, but since then I have seen a bunch of good reviews on them. They're a good size and have good poses, plus, the price is finally back where they should be on them. Cabela's simply can't sell them at $190/6 but they fly off the shelves at $139/6 which imo, is right where they should be. I'd go for it. They don't have stakes or ring bases to mess with and motion is over rated for goose hunting anyways. I have never hear a good word about FA's after they discontinued the old Eliminator Series decoys. Now those were some tough decoys and didn't shed paint like a dog with mange like the FAs have done for YEARS.

I would take a look at Dakota life-size or the new DOA's very durable decoys good motion system.
Walleyes and Waterfowl, what else is there?

Budget wise you might be best off with the B-2s. They are not the exact same quality as the originals but they are pretty good and you shouldn't have to invest in bags like you might have to with the avians. I really have not heard much good said about the FAs in quite a few years. Cabelas had them in an online sale not long ago for around $139.....Don't buy them at regular price. They seem to run a sale on them about every 2 weeks or so.....

FWIW I have found out that when hunting with others not everyone takes the same care with them that you might. For that reason durability can often outweigh a high level of detail..
DOG.... GOD spelled backwards.....Coincidence?... I think not.....

Totally!
I'm planning on buying some Avian in fully flocked. Probably a dozen just to use as a dirty dozen spread.

Post pics
If I was a goose I would want to land in my decoys.
If I was waterfowl I would want to go in my pond.

Maybe you can send them to someone to post for you? Or send them to your computer and upload from there.

Avians! No ring bases! The collapsible stands are the next best thing since pockets on jeans!

I do like the attached bases. They fit in the avery 6 slot bags perfect. Real motion base ones. Not the largest ones Avery makes.
