Used Prices For Big Foots $$

Postby Geese Gone Wild » Mon Dec 05, 2011 7:30 pm

What would you guys pay for used big foots flocked and unflocked? Seems like guys want like new prices for their used decoys. I have a hard time paying too much for something I'm not pulling out of the box although, I know they would work just as well. I'm not the biggest fan of the older unflocked bfs but I've killed a lot of birds over them so what are they worth?

New Prices for flocked are $32.50 a piece $130 for 4

I'm a cheapskate and have purchased to lots of BF this year, 1 lot of 6 for 60 bucks in good shape, non flocked heads. Another lot of 12 , flocked heads in good to decent shape for 100 bucks, Cabelas had a sale on flocked heads for about 20.00 shipped so I have 18 BF flocked heads for about 180. total cost.

GGW.. look up the thread posted by #4ntrosteel on sept 9, 2011.. (Market prices for used decoys).. some good info on that thread.. I would not pay anymore than $200 a dozen for some lightly used non flocked ones..up to $225 on the high end for flocked headed ones.. beware of mixing the current new style with the older originals.. I have come across a difference in the foot connections.. the older originals are not compatible with the newer bf foot connections... I won't buy anymore of the newer ones... i bought six on sale for a $100 bucks at cabela's bargain cave.. it was a deal, and now I know why.. the older feet won't work on the newer foots.. I thought to myself why?.. is bf trying to fix something that is not broken? ... kind of frustrating in my book...especially @ 5am when you are putting feet on 5 dozen decoys in the dark..

I generally consider this... Take 10-15% off regular retail ..... that is sale price... then take at least another 10-15% off that depending on condition.

Some of the older BFs had a longer cone base (part that goes into decoy). This is a simple fix tools needed (hacksaw, vise). Take long cone base and secure in vise by legs leaving long cone base exposed. Get one of the short cone bases measure it then mark that measurement on long cone and hacksaw it off. There are two angle supports one one each side that run towards legs you will need to trim these also so will let tabs lock into decoy and lock in place. They will work fine, a lot of guys cut the top off of all there cones so they can fill with dirt in the field or with sand ahead of time. Then they can take 50 + mph winds.

Put two SS screws in feet to body. They never fall off again

I also drill a small hole in between feet on cross bar and then if it's REAL windy in put a number 16 nail in ground- never have a deke blow over.

Do you remove your feet after each hunt? I've never had my bf's come apart!

that is a fantastic deal.. $288.. for 2 dozen?.. wow.. average is anywhere from $15-$16 a piece on the low ball side .. up to $18-$20 a piece on the high side.. great deal wackNstack.. subtract $5 for each head or foot connection missing.. gives you some room to bargain...

He is on at $15. Thats for the newer softer body. People have 10 year old bigfoots that they always want half price from new on and they are really worth $10 imo, but you could almost always resale any age for $15 a piece. These are the hard body ones. If you buy in bulk small dealers will sell them at $25/piece new. Most people want like he said $18-20/piece for a lot of times hard body styles or soft without flocked. It seems they never really depreciate no matter if they are 10-15 yrs old, far different than ffds that are 60-70% off from new two years old.
If you never want to re flock heads it might be a good idea to buy new at $25 and sell them when flocking is trashed in 3-4 years and you will almost likely get $20/piece for the newer body and head poses when reselling them.

No need to reflock thier heads, just buy new heads they are not that costly, then they are like new again

Maybe I'm cheap but I just can't see shelling out money for new heads when the old ones can be reflocked/ recycled. It just seems like a waste all around. I guess maybe I'm from a less "disposable" generation. Too bad Clinton Decoys doesn't come out with a "trade in program" for heads. I think lots of guys would take advantage of it and it would save some matterial costs for Clinton. It would be a nice little business if you could do it for 1/2 of what new heads cost.........
