Training an older dog possible?

Postby HuntingIdaho » Sun Jan 29, 2012 12:03 am

I have had this black lab since he was a puppy, 4 now. I started hunting 3 years ago, and never really gave training him any thought. Am I fighting a losing battle to wait this long? He is a great dog! swims for days, and will retrieve, just kinda stubborn at times.

He can still be trained to hunt. If you take your time and get a good training program to work with. You will have to start out like you were training a puppy, go slow but delibertly. You may not get him to the point that you would have if you'd have started him as a puppy, but you can get him to the point that you can enjoy him beside you in the field. Good luck and keep us updated.
