The fun begins!

Been talking about biting the bullet ALL summer about the purchase of a enclosed decoy trailer.... It's(finally) a done deal! Picked up a 6'x12' Carryon, straight axle. The trailer is 6'-6" at the center. Now time to get busy and customize it for my needs. Thanks to all that helped in my journey. I'm sure more questions/conversations to follow :goodtimes:

Nice man! Me too. I got a couple things going to customize it. Its mostly already done (by previous owner) I just got to add my personal touch and add some lights, and some new graphics. My electrician gonna do all the wiring. I'll show you some pics when its all done. LED lights off the back to light up field. gonna be nice!

Been thinking alot about the shelves..... I already have three across the front. I think I can set my lookers and bulls& shells on them. I plan to use and carry a ATV in the rear....most of the time. I think I may do something, maybe a single row of shelves down each side up high, just to place/carry a few more there. I'm thinking about basicly using decoy bags for the most part and keep as much floor space as open as possible. That way is can be cleaned out...if need be and used for something other than a "decoy trailer". Just a thought, what you thinkin?

The way its set up now the shelfs take up whole side wall and half the floor space. All my decoys are in bags so they fit in but takes up too much room. I want to be able to get my quad in it. I really cant do shelves in front, will block side door. Not sure what I'm gonna do. I'm gonna have to play around with it. Its mainly a decoy trailer but like you said good to have it for other uses.

Man, sounds like you have already outgrown your new trailer. Going to start putting some deeks in her this weekend and getting an idea of what I need to do! I think I may make a spot for my layout to hang.set on one side or the other....

Lone and Cut

Not trying to butt in here but I recently had the same dilema as you two. What I came up with is a shelf for the side walls. I ran the shelf about half way up the wall and secured the bottom portion with a 2x4.....this was for the bracing on the bottom shelf floor. After making a cheap shelf floor of plywood and 2x4s...I secured the bottom of the shelf to the brace 2x4 with four hinges. This allows me to swing the shelf back up towards the roof. I took two eye bolts and secured them onto the outside of the shelf floor. On the metal trailer studs, I secured a smaller piece of chain...through on of the chain links using a bolt.

The theory...I lay the shelf down during transportation and it allows me to get 5 bags of f/b on it. Use a bungee cord and strap them from chain to chain (side to side)...learned they will not stay up. Then when I get to the field...hook the shelf up...gives me complete access to my trailer and four wheeler.

I would post pics but my trailer is an hour a way in storage....hope this helps

Let me know if you have any other questions about this.
Make it idiot proof and someone will make a better idiot.

I think it was because they (joe and tim) switched to all lessers, they can fit in their trucks and didnt need the trailer anymore. Thats what Joe told me.

Been adding lessers to my spread as well....I think they look good in the spread, but I still like that old big bull standing guard over the flock :goodtimes:

Well, my rig is coming together, I now realize a 6'x12' is not that big. Have shelves across the front holding decoys and one plastic tote full of Canada shells. I did wind of hanging two rows of full bodies from conduit at head height across the middle of the trailer. Two more plastic totes for my swan shells will set under them. All I have now is one more doz Canada lessers to store. Thinking slot bags hanging from the sides beside the ATV. So far....so good. Trailer Pics to include "the kill pics"... season starts...... NEXT WED

Get the inside done..will start thinking decals

I too could hunt tomorrow. All my gear is now stowed away. The front is set up and can not hold anymore, unless I what to set some slot bags on the floor. I still have room/floor space in the back for several slot bags full of decoys...if I'm not hauling my atv. Thanks for the decal....but I'm a Rem man..thru & thru.... Let's Hunt! Hope to post a few pics Wed.
