Taxidermy kits

Postby benellishooter » Thu Dec 02, 2010 2:41 pm

I have thought about getting into taxidermy, i was just wondering how hard it really is to mount a duck. I was looking at taxidermy.com and their kits come with a instructions book. Was just wondering if anybody has tried this and has any good advice. Thanks Jordan

My best advice is to get a modern dvd so you can visually see the process and follow along. That and rewind, fast forward, etc to specific parts where your needing more guidance in. Mounting birds is a difficult thing especially for the first few years. If you have the parts, dvd, and get a bird mounted, best thing is to post up some pictures so you can get a critique that can help you progress on the next one. You repeat this process over and over you'll learn a lot more a lot faster and cut down such a high learning curve. I'd be glad to help out with what I can

was looking into the same thing, but havent done a lot of research into it yet. I have been looking at taxidermy.net and there is lots of info on there. Most of it is over my head but still there is lots of useful stuff. What all does a guy need to get started on doing birds?
