Single vs. tandem trailer???

Postby RLXFXR » Mon Feb 08, 2010 7:36 pm

Hi guys,
I'm ready to buy a trailer (6x12), but wondering whether to get a single axle or tandem. I know that with the tandem you can carry more weight, but what about in the field? Does having tandem reduce the chance of ruts in the field as it's distributing the weight more?

I'm thinking that 75 Bigfoots, 18 GHG full bodies, 2 blinds and a 4 wheeler at times will fit in a 6x12.

Thanks!

I prefer a single axle

a tandem will not turn as well and will create more of the chance of rutting. also is the problem with backing up..very difficult with a tandem in a soft or uneven field....

Second that! Take it from someone that has a tandem. If I had it to do over I would have bought a single axle.

I think it's a trade off, lot's of guys are carrying an atv so it helps, weight wise. You will have some tire wear. If you have alot of over the road,I'd say tandom, short trips...single

X2, my next trailer is going to be a 7X14 tandem. I'll want the extra weight for my atv/utv. I'm tired of storing the atv in my truck bed. I want everything in my trailer next time.
