It's one thing to be able to afford a 10ga...It's quite another to be able to carry it all day & afford ammo.

It's only a couple dollars more. Winchesters run about 25 bucks a box. 12's run around 20. Not that big a difference.

Well, I just don't care to lug around a gun that heavy, but if you like em, go for it.

Maxus...a hair under 7lb...

Went out and shot it last Sat and shot everything from 2 3/4" 7 1/2 game loads at skeet to patterning with 3" #2 and BB 1550 and it cycled flawlessly. I luv the gun. Also took along my Dads Franchi I-12 he just bought used...it had only one FTF with a game load...which I had read inertia guns may have trouble with. It is heavier (7.5lb) than the Maxus but fits well and was also a pleasure to shoot...build quality is good as well.

Picked up a 10 or two and they seem very front heavy.

My friend just picked up a Versa Max, despite all the negative articles. I'll try to keep you updated on how it performs.

I agree, I will be the first one to admit..feeding that land cannon, is as spendy as a bad mistress... If you have a reloader, like I do .. and have it set-up for loading 10 ga.. than you can reload for it at 12 ga prices..as far as weight goes, the browning gold lite 10 ga. has the aluminum alloy reciever.. and weighs in at 9 lbs 9 oz. with 26 inch barrel... I shoot mostly out of layout blinds with my now current weapon of choice , an ithaca magten.. and it works well for what i need it for..I carry it to the blind, and that is where it stays until I am done, or get a limit ..whichever comes first..I don't really have a need to carry it around all day.. when I had my gold lite 10 .. it handled just as well if not a little better/faster....I could use my 12 ga.. in the same fields...But, I like how the bigten knocks down the honkers with AUTHORITY... not having to chase cripples also.. especially when another flock is getting closer.. the 10 gauge is the only weapon, I have gotten a clean triple with, on decoying geese...

let's get back to business,...good luck with the new maxus, I hope you knock them dead in the head... especially with that excellent camo pattern..

I agree. The Ithaca model #52 Mag 10 is the only gun I've ever used that will take clean kill triples on pass shots.
Not over decoys, but pass shots.
I own maybe twenty 12's and there is no comparison to the Mag 10.
