Layout spot ideas

Postby JustStartin' » Sun Jan 29, 2012 11:30 am

Before the ice does anyone hunt a layout blind on the water. I'm thinking of making a platform on the water made out of pallets and laying on them. Setting up a couple on the lake.

You should buy a layout boat. Probably would be safer then your layout on pallets in the water.
If I was a goose I would want to land in my decoys.

I would think a layout boat would definitely suit your needs better.

Well I mean I'm going to make it sturdy so it don't move, maybe a 1/2 if a foot to a foot out of the water so it doesn't rise. I found a pond in the middle of a marsh on the lake, kind of small cant get my boat back there. So I was thinking making a platform for it

You lost me here. You want the platform out of the water on the edge to set your layout blind on? Why not just use your layout on the shore? Probably blend in better. Or just make a regular duck/goose blind on the edge of the water. Pond in the middle of a marsh on the lake??? I'm confused. If you can't get a boat there how would you get the pallets back there?
