Greater Canada's and Barnacle

Postby aar » Sun Oct 17, 2010 9:23 pm

Had some birds mounted before leaving for Scotland that are dry and ready to go. The Canada's were September birds from Canada but came out pretty darn good, certainly much better than I had pictured when I got the call they were on their way over! Barnacle is a hard bird to beat, just an awesome goose.

Greater with normal plumage but does have a cool eyebrow

Head of normal greater

This was a really unique quill lake Canada.

Chest pattern not uncommon but had not seen the skunk stripe down the throat before

White speckles all over the head as well

Barnacle relaxing. Still have to add the wood for the base but he was begging for a pic tonight

Love this shot of the bird

Thanks for looking,

Impressive as always. I think I'm gonna get a goose mounted this year, I'd like to team it up with a mallard if I can get one that's got all the colors and curls.

Jon geese are kind of like turkey's to me, very pretty birds but god the space they take up especially flying  I have a pretty big collection of different game bird species so most of my personal stuff is "wing kicked out" or on a dead strap to help combat some of the space issues.
speckleberry: Those barnacles are pretty small birds too, about the size of a ross' goose give or take. You know how it goes, guys over there are probably crazy over one day going after a blue goose here :D

Thanks again guys,

Eric
