On this site you're going to get GK plugs, unless Winglock makes a speck call, in which you'll get some plugs for that. Go to the refuge and they'll tell you to somehow turn a Lares call into a speck and that'll be the best. GK's call is probably a good one. Never tried it, but their other stuff is really nice. That being said, those companies don't specialize in speck calls.

The guys down south that really call specks use Redbone calls quite a bit. They're supposed to make a killer speck call. I just looked it up, and their site says they've won the past six straight World Speck calling championships. Chien Caille is an old school call that's supposed to be a dead on speck call as well.

Red Bone does make a killer speck call....but I can't see spending $200 for one, just because they've won that many championships!

buy a redbone and you'll see that its worth every penny. you may want to buy a speck call from someone who actually hunts specks. the gk is prob a good call but are they known for their speck hunting? redbone riceland(james meyers) rnt or pacific flyway. i heard riceland is making a poly for about 65 bucks. not on their site yet. that would be the one you should get asap.

If it's a Speck call you are after.....Redbone is a fantastic choice. It's hard to argue against their contest success.

I agree that $200 for a speck call seems like alot, but $200 for a Canada call is alot too. $200 wouldn't be worth it for me, because I don't call specks very often. But for someone that lives in rice country, it may be the edge they're looking for. Much like buying DSD's or a $200 contest call.

I do agree that their run of championships does speak volumes for the quality of their speck calls. That tells me that many of the guys who really know how to call specks and really want the most out of their call are choosing Redbone. That doesn't mean it's the ONLY choice. Just means it's definitely going to be one of the better choices. Kind of goes back to the old debate on contest callers being good field callers. If anyone tells you contest callers can't call ducks or geese, what their really trying to tell you is they can't contest call and they're trying to tell you they are just as good (in a way that can't be judged, measured, or proven).

I got a Redbone this year and its worth every penny. I already killed 40+ specks with it. Amazing sounds. I've made mallard purist stop laughing and stare in awe at the specks working locked up floating slow over duck dekes. And I'm still a rookie on it. Barely owned it for a month. If I wouldst had this call first of season I'd be overloaded with speck meat. Good problem to have! My sisters brother let me try his in his house and first toot on it I sou.red like a real bird. I came home and ordered one. Best purchase I made in years. Save up cause it will b worth it.
