geese flying schedule....

Postby bambam0827 » Sun Jan 22, 2012 4:17 pm

Does anyone feel they have a good idea of what makes geese fly late or early???

Where I hunt just south of kansas city, missouri the geese NEVER fly before 8:30am. Alot of times they dont fly until 10a.m. We are hunting either sod, beans, or corn within a 20 mile radius and its always the same story. An ideas???
(Missouri's canada goose limit needs to be increased to at least 3)
Well my wish was granted on the 3 limit. Too bad the 2011-2012 season has been a bust due to the weather. o well I am already looking forward to next season.

Midwestern geese are lazy? :rolling: Nothing new, especially in the late season. They will only fly when it's a bit warmer out. It's how they conserve valuable energy, plus the fields are probably gonna be easier to feed in after the sun has been on them for a little while...

Wish I could figure it out. In NC Nebraska as of late the geese haven't flown much before 4 pm, Friday it was about 2:15. Got permission last night for a field holding over 1000 geese, today at noon I pull up just in time to see the first flock coming in, sat there for an hour watching flock after flock go into my X. Fing geese drive me nuts.
Walleyes and Waterfowl, what else is there?

They are on ther own schedule, Friday birds flew here from 10 to12, Saturday never seen or heard a bird until 4, I can't put it all on paper for you but start a log and you will see a pattern for your birds, temps, sunny, cloudy, when did they feed the day before, It is really hard to track if you only hunt weekends though, because you need to log what is happening durning the week too. One almost sure key, the colder it is the later they fly, usually! (I'm talking local Giants here, migrators are tough to pattern).
