College Ingenuity

Postby omaha » Sun Aug 15, 2010 1:45 pm

Well i have been trying to find a layout for cheap but i couldnt seem to do it and since the season is approaching fast so i needed a solution fast. Well was at the local hardware store and they had PVC on sale and i have had a design in my head for a while this is what i have come up with just need to wrap it in some camo and sew some stubble straps on it.
Layout frame.jpg

It is 13" tall at its tallest point 8 ft long and 27" wide, i made it long so i can fit extra gear in it, hoping to go to wally world and get some camo burlap or some canvas later tonight. i will post up pics later in teh week of it all

so far i am in to this thing for 20 bucks

Nice frame! How are you going to put the camo on it? I need to put some frame support at the base of my finisher. Some pvc and velcro will probably work.
If I was a goose I would want to land in my decoys.

Looks nice but I would put two vertical supports about mid way on each side. There is a tendancy to push down on the sides when standing up, and it might elminate some bending or possibly cracking.

I plan on making frames for the doors, i also plan on making the blind foldable so that i can carry it on my back. I also cut the blind down by a foot so that it was not soo long, the frame stayed pretty much the same no change in the pics.

A friend of mine made one of those "home made" blinds once. I think he attached the burlap with some of those plastic tie straps or something...he may have attached the doors that way also. Find one of those really low beach chairs to sit in and you'll be all set.

I'm sure it is satisfying to "Do it yourself" especially if you are gifted with creativity and ability to fabricate.

But if you are simply doing to save money, check out "CraigsList".

I am amazed at the deals online.

Have to be patient, and keep looking, but eventually something always gets posted that is a great buy.

Dude, I think that's cool and I DO NOT wanna take antthing away from the inenuity clearly displayed here, but about how much do you have in materials and labor in the blind? I say this only because Ebay has got some smokin deals on blinds for fairly little money (Primos Hardcore blinds for around 60-80 bucks). In fact I just picked up a beavertail sniper from Gander online for a whopping like 60 bucks to use as spare or light pack in blind. Just thought I'd throw that out there, but good job on the do it yourselfer!!

thats awesome man im very impressed. can you tell us how the doors open and close? kinda hard to tell from the pics but i dont see a hinge really, does the pvc just spin? you will have to get this out in the field and get it all dirty and take some pictures so we can see that thing in action, nice work man.
