I will barely pay the price for 4 bigfoots and under but if i cant find any BF's used i wont have a very big spread. Maybe 12 at BF's price for now till i get a job this fall. Then i'll be able to truly start a spread. I just want some kind of stake in the ground for my spread. I might have to get some Tanglefrees. :|

DSM,
I'm in a similar situation, I only have 1 doz full bodies so far (GHG FFD). I've really been interested in the dakota lesser decoys that you mention. Do you think its better to use a dozen of the painted lessers and pay the extra for 2 bags or just pay for the XFD's that include the bag. Or will these have durability issues?

I don't ever plan on running a huge spread and I don't mind taking good care of the deeks but I also want them to last.

The durability of the ffds depends on how much you use them and how you store them. Bagging them rubs the flocking off the backs. Bagging is probably the best storage method. Mine make 25 to 30 trips to the field in a year. And I've had them for 2 seasons now. The backs are starting to show wear. I am hoping to get 2 more seasons out of them and slowly replace them with painted Dakota lessers and real geese sihlouettes.

The Dakotas do not glare near as much as some other painted decoys. They require less TLC than ffds and will last. I've been field testing my Dakota lessers and not in a friendly way. Very satisfied customer.

Well i made a decision and I will get some TF's and BF's to mix it up a little. As soon as rogers gets their TF's Or i find them somewhere else I'll get a dozen and get some BF's to give it a different look. I wish dunns had canada's so i could get tyhem for $80 bucks shipped but they dont have any in stock. They got some BF's for cheap though so gonna get some from dunns.

I got a dozen from them back last spring. They had some..."issues". Basically looked like they fell out of the box in the back of the UPS truck and the UPS guy walked on them to get to all the other packages the whole way to my house. Still huntable for sure, but one call to Stacey at TF and I had a dozen brand new decoys on my door step 6 days later.

I have heard great things about TF's customer service but if i get BF's i wont even have to worry about that. I wonder if BF has customer service?

If you buy the new bigfoots take a look at their cheek patch. Some guys have had issues with them glaring and flaring birds in bright sun conditions. If you do get some that have that problem you can sand them down and re-paint them yourself or leave them out in the sun for a bit to fade. I don't know if this issue was resolved, but they are aware of the problem.

BF's bodies are still the most durable but BF has started to take some short cuts also.

Yea i heard their cheeks glare but i have plenty of white and black flocking i can use. I dont mind messing with the deeks to give them my special touch :D . When im out scouting birds and already found a field i just mess with the decoys for tommorow anyway so not that big a deal. will only take at the most 7 minutes for a dozen then drying time.

I was gonna suggest looking at the B-2s if space is an issue but Cabela's doesn't even have them listed anymore (?????) They are not the same quality as the originals but still better than a lot out there.
