Only way to find that out is pattern your gun. Certain guns shoot dif patterns. Gotta find which shell/choke combo is right for your gun. I shoot both brands but mainly Hevi metal hands down.
If I was a goose I would want to land in my decoys.

That's it right there. I shoot both as well and both have killed geese for me. I do however have 2 cases of Hevi Metal and my BC supply is starting to dwindle. Not because I don't neccesarilly like it, but because it's still too expensive for what it gives you performance wise. Hevi Metal is by far the best value in high performance waterfowl ammo today.

Another vote for Hevi-Metal. Hevi-Metal and BC are pretty much the same price, but you get half tugsten with the HM's. Its kind of a no brainer which one to shoot. But like said pattern both and see which one patterns better. Keep in mind the HM's respond very different between chokes, 1 thing I do know for sure is the HM's pattern great out of a Carlson choke tube, the factory benelli choke and cabelas choke the HM's pattern was poor.

Hevimetal. I've pulled the trigger 18 times at a goose this year and have 15 birds to show for it since switching to HeviMetal. It's not the shooter I promise! Wish it was more birds, but this has been an awful year so far. Stuff levels birds, give it a go, you'll dig it!

Can I ask why you narrowed your choice to those two loads?

I wonted to try a high power load. BC and hevi-metal are the best out there.

What do you mean by "high power load"? ANY steel pellet leaving your barrel at reasonably the same velocity (1450-1550 fps) will kill just as far as the next steel pellet of the same size. When you bring the heavier than steel shot loads into the equasion, that's when you get what you could consider a "high power load". Not sure where you got your information but to me, unless you're talking homogenous hevi shot loads, there is no "best there is" waterfowl load . Even then, if you can't hit water if you were sitting in a boat, the shell in your gun won't matter. I've killed about 1000 geese with Winchester Experts. Are they the "BEST" load there is out there?...nope, but they sure do pattern great in my guns and they sure do kill the $#!t outta geese for me, but the next guy might hate them. The BEST load there is is the one that shoot the best patterns and puts that steel on a bird and that bird dies...period. There are a TON of really good, effective waterfowl loads on the market today. From Experts to Federal Blue Box (one of my all time favs btw), to Black Cloud, to hevi Metal, to Hevi shot...see what I mean? Don't get scope locked on one brand or specific load. Like myself and others have said on this forum before...A LOT, try to find the loads that patterns in YOUR GUN the best and go from there. Everything else should hopefully fall into place if you have a killing combo in your hands.

best thing to do is have you and your buddies each buy a different box of ammo and trade shells until you each have a few of each type of shell..then pattern your gun with all the different loads. Then pick which patterned best and goto rogers sporting goods and buy yourself a case

I shot Black cloud for about 5 hunts when it first came out, hated it. Patterned it, hated it. I actually left a box in a blind I hunted one day, and gifted the rest to people. Started shooting hevi metal and never looked back. For the money, best shell I have seen. I started shooting it before I worked for Hevi, and if I ever leave I will continue to shoot it, fantastic product in my book. Lately I have been choosing HM over actual hevi shot.

Why??? How about neither....Best bang for your buck shell so far is Winchester XPerts. Great performance/ great price...and totally turned off with Kent. Hope this helps!

Tons of guys use black cloud. You dont have to miss by much to miss at 15 yards. Pattern isn't that big at close range. You sure it was the shells fault that made you miss? However, I would advise against using the black cloud snowgoose loads. I believe there is a recall on select boxes.
