best blue and spec positioning?

Postby Jacob » Fri Nov 14, 2008 12:52 pm

What is the best way to show off these two types of geese? I have an old spec that is almost black on its chest. Looks awsome... And a real colored blue goose. I was thinking a landing spec and the blue standing...... What do you guys think? Any pics of yours?

I like to mount all my birds in such a way that they remind me of the hunt. For example my first Widgeon landed on an island right in front of us and was preening, so when Igot it mounted Ihad them do it in a preening position. I know for geese a lot of times this doesn't make sense because they were just flying into the decoys, but thats just my personal take on mounting.

jacob those sound like a good mount. But you can have them mounted any way you can think of, by a good taxidermist. Like you say though, show off their best features. Such as the landing spec.

mount position

99% of the Whitefronts are mounted in a cupped or belly out position to show off the chest. Age has nothing to do with how black they are, it's strictly genetics, like fingerprints. I've got several mounted I will post up to give you some ideas.

Great birds, Jacob! Specks are my favorite.

I've got one at the taxidermist now. The guy takes over a year to get to 'em.

Wow Waterfowler, those are fine birds! I chose a pose very much like the one with the green neck band. That's my favorite sight just before the shot! Excellent work!
