Avery blind ghillie covers

Postby redlab1 » Mon Jan 09, 2012 4:52 pm

Has anybody on here gotten the grass or winter wheat blind ghillie cover and used it ? I was wondering how the coloration is compared to a pasture or yard grass Because I hunt around ponds and in pastures and even hay fields. I just didn't want to go pay $100 for it and still have to blend it in with natural cover.

Thanks!

I bought the Avery Ghillie cover in All Terrain and modified it to fit my 06 Sub. I really liked the set up but is was too dark for Corn fields. I just attached some Corn stubble to the mesh net and it worked Great. I keep the Ghillie on this SUB all the time and use the other blind for the snow cover or whatever. Reason I bought the Ghillie is because I hunt several Good fields with weedy draws and it blends in well in this situation.

I just picked up the AT cover for my Finisher from Dunn's ebay store for 60 bucks. Like you Don, I found it WAAAAAY too dark so I'm gonna hit at least half of the darker patches with some ultra flat krylon. It actually looks so dark in spots as to almost be purple. Once again, Avery should have done just a bit more field testing before putting out another luke warm product. At least I only paid 60 bucks for it though right?... :lame:

I'll say it again, I can't believe Avery would take somethinng with so much potential and screw it up.

I guess there is a "new and improved" version coming out next season

Sadly for us, good ideas and poor execution seem their forte - but it's apparently working fine for them.

I mean how hard can it be to match green grass? The 1st winter wheat looked liked Easter basket grass. Now its more brown for ghillie cover..Who do they got matching the colors? Helen Keller?

Obviously very hard because the answer I got was that green grass or hay in the East is different then in the North, South and West. :lame:

Some winter wheat is a different grass due to growing season and when it's ripe it looks half green to being greenish tan.
