are lessors to small

Postby imaduckin up north » Sun Jan 29, 2012 8:38 pm

ive been buying ghg lessors due to the fact ive been able to get them a little cheaper, but was wondering if i need to get some prograde standards for the bigger body style. and yes i know bigfoots rule but i dont have bigfoot space or budget. will the lessors get it done if im running say 5 to 10 doz. this was my first serious year of field hunting and im hoping for better next year.

yes, the GHG lessers are fine. but like said above I chose to use the normal sized full body geese for the visablity.

They work fine. Visibility won't be an issue.

I run all lessors and real geese, birds dont seem to mind at all, with this spead, I dont need a trailor, just load the back of the pickup

Many companies that advertise their decoys as "lessors" are actually the size of life size Canada's. Alot of guys have been switching over to using lessor's because of being able to transport and run more decoys, I am actually thinking of what I am going to build my spread up with next year, I am thinking of half the new GHG fullbodies, half lessors. Probably going to dump about 1200 into it.

Anyone know of any "bull lessers" on the market. Sure like looking out over a spread having a couple Avery Bulls standing guard  I still have use big foot but do have a bunch of lessers mixed in :goodtimes:

I think it's good to mix in lessers for size diference but I personally wouldn't run all lessers unless I am targeting lessers. Plus the Avery lessers don't have lookers just actives. No true high looker pose for the ghg lessers like you get with full size honkers. I think it's important to have lookers. All just my opinion.

Yea, me too Goose, sure like my bulls! Just thinkin, if a guy was running "all lessers" and had a few lesser lookers/bulls.... may be all right. Just have not seen any in the lesser line-up!

I'm sure the honker looker will do just fine will all lessers. May even give the impression of a big old mature"bull" lookout...I love my "lookers" pose's better than any other pose in my spread. Soooo nice looking in the field.

Yea, had the idea of going with all lessers a few years back...... when I stepped back and looked out over the spread of standard BF full bodies, resters, feeders, lookers & the bulls....... NOT Those big old decoys do jump out at ya in a big field  Maybe small fields & early season, they'd be fine! Just sayin :D

Virtually all we have up here is big honkers, with some smaller migrators and a very few lessers. The bigguns decoy just as readilly to my spread of lesser deeks as they do to all honkers or a mix of the two. I find decoy size is almost irrelevant compared to true coloration in my almost 30 years of goose hunting. A natural set up and a good hide trump decoy size every time.

Don't get me wrong, I liked the Lessers. I had 2.5 dozen Ghg ffd. Mixed em in with my honkers. Never did run just the Lessers. Like most said. Size really doesn't matter....for geese that is lol

I live in OH and we hardly ever get lessers yet I have an all lesser spread and some honker lookers. They work perfectly. I like the prograde lessers instead of ffd cause the flocking comes of a bit much on those. We call in REALLY big geese all the time in them. And for visibility, you dont have to worry because of darker paint schemes.

I like using the regular size bull geese because it looks like they are getting so aggresive that they are puffing out their feathers. It makes sense because they want the geese to stay away from the spread because of food so that actually seems more realistic to me. IMO
