You don't mention anything about cost....so, I 'll just recommend this, go with BB's, any of the top brands out there should get it done, if you do your part........and your gun patterns them well.............oh wait,,, now we could be gettin' into cost(s). Go with BB's.

I'm a fan of BB's and number 2's. 1's get a lot of love too, just tough to find unless you're near a store that carries a lot of different loads. I wouldn't recommend jumping in for a case, so find something you can buy a box of and give it a go. Lots of good loads out there, do some homework and you'll find something that fits your price range and what you're looking for.

I shoot black cloud 3.5" bb through a Carlson mod choke and kill my share of birds - mid price

Find a cheap load of 3" BB and start from there. Get birds to decoy right or put yourself in the right spot for pass shooting oppertunities and 1 1/4 oz of BB or #2 is all you need. You don't need any of the gimmick loads out there to kill birds.

BB's and #1's IMO and I have tried about everything out there and killed geese with about all of them. I personal don't like xperts in goose loads but really like them in duck loads, don't know why. Kents would be a good start seems like they shoot pretty good in about everything.

I feel the same way about Xperts.

I usually shoot BB or #2's. After I use the rest of my box's of BB's. #2's will be all I shoot at ducks/geese.

I like to use #2 when on a mixed bird hunt (primarily ducks but geese too) but switch to BB when focusing on geese. BBB is my go-to in the late season, mostly because I have most of a case I'm trying to use up. Otherwise I'd stick with BB all the time.

I use Kent 3" #1, 2 or BB. Mostly #1. Factory mod choke. Good pattern and clean burning. Priced good. Check Rogers Sporting Goods, they usually have Free Shipping

If you can't afford Hevi-Shot B's... then I'd shoot Winchester Xpert steel BB's if you can get them to pattern well at 50 yards.... if you can't get them to pattern, then you might be forced to move to a more uniform pellet roundness like Federal Blue Box, Kent Fasteel, etc.... the prices go up from there. Good Luck with the patterning! :?

These pattern great for me - but if they get wet you have to make sure you dry them off really well - the bases rust like crazy at the drop of a hat. I'll probably buy more of them when I finish off the Kent's I have though. I bet if I take a few minutes to wipe them down with Eezox they won't rust. That stuff is great.

I've been using primarily Kent Fasteel #2 and having good success this season. Plus, the price is nice on those.

My Favorite goose load would have to be BB. If I am shooting true hevi shot goose though it is a 3 1/2" #2. Most of the time it is Hevi Metal 3 1/2" BB. But find something that is good for you, if price is no issue always go with the best ammo you can.

Hevi-metal BB or BBB, with out a doubt some of the best loads I've ever used.

Dunns has Winchester supreme elite xtended tungsten loads on close out right now. $144 for 100 rounds of 2 3/4", free shipping, and winchester has a $50 rebate on a case right now. $99 for 100 rounds of tungsten is a hell of a deal. I've been using this stuff for 2 years now and the 1 1/4 oz #2's flat out wreck canadas and snows, and respond to choking really well.

Rogers Sporting Goods has Federal 3" 1-1/8 in a variety of sizes including BB 99.00/case delivered. If you can find a better deal than that go for it. I bought a case of #1's and they are hammering the honkers......
