I had heard #2's are not good for canadas but I tried 3" Hevi-metal #2's for first time yesterday and first shot took down a big Canada at min 30yds. Was at high angle and he went straight down. I'm going to use up the box and see how they do overall I guess.

The only time #2's aren't going to do the job is if you're shooting them in the body late season. If you're shooting 'em in where they don't have that dang downed out body armor, ie: the head!, #2's will do the trick all season long!

2s work fine. 4s are iffy for anything but head shots. They first goose my brother ever killed was with 3" steel 6s as it passed overhead at 20 yds. That was 1999ish. I wouldn't try it regularly but it can be done. I've used hevishot 4s out of a 20 ga O/U successfully for geese.

I would NOT try #4's with anything other than the HeviShot family of shells.
Especially if you are having to pass shoot these geese.

What if your pass shooting is done at 20 yards? :stirpot:
